4DX comes to South Africa for the first time
Oct 9, 2015
4DX – the world’s first 4D cinema technology for feature films – has been expanding its reach into the global market, making partnerships with new powerful multiplex operators all over the world and opening new 4DX sites through the strong partnerships with existing partners. Following that pattern, 4DX has signed a partnership with Nu Metro Cinemas (South Africa), with the South African location being the first 4DX site in all of Africa. Nu Metro Cinemas, the fast-growing South African cinema operator will bring 4DX to African movie-goers for the first time. The first South African location to feature 4DX, scheduled to open before the end of 2015, will be at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town - Africa’s largest and most popular tourist attraction. With this new agreement, 4DX has broadened its global market reach and will have screens on five of the six inhabitable continents.
In September, a number of existing partners opened 4DX theatres in UAE, Ukraine and China. VOX Cinemas opened the new site in MOE (Mall of Emirates) of UAE, recently renovated to be the largest entertainment facility, equipped with the latest technology, in the Middle East. Planeta Kino Cinemas added a 4DX theatre in Livi, the second site to open in Ukraine. With four of its 38 total sites opening in September alone, China is now the biggest 4DX market in the world. Three of these screens came out of 4DX’ strong partnership with Wanda, opening screens in Dalian Gaoxin, in the Beijing Central Business District, and in Taiyuan. The other 4DX theatre opened at a CGV site in XingXing Foshan Dongpingxincheng.
As of September 2015, 4DX reaches 204 auditoriums in 35 countries, with a goal to reach 300 auditoriums by the first half of 2016. 4DX continues to deliver the 4DX technology to around the world, by trying to having new partnerships with a number of global multiplex operators and maintaining reliable relationships with existing partners to expand 4DX all over the world.
